The next New Moon happens on May 16, 2026, at 8:01 pm (UTC) in Taurus 1°44′. The Nakshatra is Krittika, and the Navamsha is Capricorn. The Moon is exalted in Taurus.
“Nurturing” is the keyword for this New Moon. So, what is it that we want to nurture?
Our ultimate goal is moksha — liberation — yet, there is no need to dedicate every aspect of life to the spiritual path all at once. Some people find themselves averse to worldly matters, but the fact remains that we all live in a worldly realm. It is therefore important to maintain balance: to savour the pleasures that the five senses bring us, while neither clinging to them nor being swept away by them — remaining, in a sense, a witness.
This is a wonderfully auspicious New Moon for reflecting on how to cultivate that balance. Rather than being caught in either the worldly or the spiritual, let us consider what attachments we are able to let go, and what kind of equilibrium that release might bring us. The path forward is gradual — one step at a time. This New Moon has the potential to be that very first spark. Om Shanti.
