New Moon in Leo September 10/11, 2026

The next new moon happens on September 11, 2026, at 03:26 am UTC, at 24°11′ Leo. The Nakshatra is Purva Phalguni, and the Navamsha is Scorpio.

Within us, two “selves” exist.
One is the Ego (Ahaṃkara). It is shaped by our experiences, memories, and constant comparison with others; it is the voice that keeps saying, “I want to be this way,” “This is right.” It is a necessary tool for living, but when we mistake it for the whole of who we are, we end up swept along by its constant chatter.

Beneath it is the Self (Atman), quietly present; unshakeable, never born and never dying. No matter what the Ego says, it simply witnesses in stillness.

The new moon is the night the moon disappears. Just as its outline disappears from the sky, our minds too may grow still more easily during this time. The Ego’s voice, which usually chatters without pause, may offer us a brief space of quietness. And in that space, we may catch a glimpse of the Atman that has been there all along.

Before making a wish, let us think about the deep reason why we wish it. And turn our awareness to the Witness itself, the one watching that wish arise. That may be the invitation this new moon is offering: a return to what is inward. Om Shanti.
