The next New Moon happens on Monday 20 July at 5.33 pm UTC in Cancer, Pushya Nakshatra.
At the “Vedic Knowledge for Health, Energy and Wisdom Conference” organised by Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm, Swamini Svatmavidyanandaji of Arsha Vidya Gurukulam gave a wonderful lecture and said something very interesting. She said that there are only four outcomes in life. Say that we want to take the bus. Scenario number one is, we want to take the bus so we cross the road, the bus comes, and we take the bus. So the outcome is equal to the expectation. Scenario number two is that we want to take the bus but as we are waiting to cross the road the bus comes and we miss the bus. So the outcome doesn’t meet our expectation. Scenario number three is that we want to take the bus and as we are waiting to cross the road, a car stops in front of us and the driver is a friend we haven’t seen in a long time and the friend says “let me take you where you want to go and we can catch up in the meantime”. So the outcome is much better than the expectation. Scenario number four is that while crossing the road we fall, we have a concussion and we end up in a hospital with bruises and broken bones. So the outcome is much worse than the expectation. And of those four outcomes, we have to accept the outcome no matter how the event turns out.
Are we ready to accept the outcome? Are we not attached to our expectations?
Those who read my last Lunar Eclipse message may have been thinking on what they really want. This is an important New Moon as it happens in the sign of Cancer ruled by the Moon. So it is good timing to place an intention, a wish, an “expectation”, wishing for a new direction. But we have to be detached from the outcome because there are many influences at play and it doesn’t only depend on our intention. If we can practice acceptance of what is, we are nourishing our peace of mind. Om Shanti.
