The next New Moon happens on 21 March 2023 at 5:22 pm UTC, at 6 degrees Pisces. The Nakshatra is Uttara Bhadra and Navamsha is Leo.
There are two important laws in the universe. One is Karma and the other is Dharma.
Karma means ‘action’ in Sanskrit. If I take some action, there is always a reaction. If I hurt people, they hurt me as a reaction. If I am kind to people, they are kind to me in response.
It does not necessarily come back in the same kind of behaviour. Therefore, I need to be aware of how I behave towards myself and others.
Dharma is about how we need to behave, a code of conduct. The question is whether that ‘good’ is universal rather than subjective.
By consciously doing good deeds, one accumulates Punya or credits, but accumulating them is not the ultimate goal. Living carefully one day at a time and being conscious of each action; 100% good deeds may not be possible, but this is a very good new moon to think about how we can move in that direction.
I’ve come across the right message today while walking in Mexico: “Memento Mori”. We all die someday. Let’s stop worrying about the future and live in the now. Om Shanti.
