The world is, unfortunately unfair. There is also the question of “what is fair?” There is a variety of unfairness. Some have money, and some don’t. Some are healthy, some are ill, etc.
However, the ‘unfairness’ is accentuated by comparison: someone with 1 million dollars may be envious of someone with 10 million dollars. Or someone may be envious if the neighbors live in a bigger house. There is no end to comparisons because most things are just subjective such as beauty or talent.
Comparisons with others that cause this envy or jealousy are a major obstacle to achieving our peace of mind. How is it possible to be satisfied with just what you have? We have to keep on watching our mind so that we are not comparing ourselves with others. This new moon will allow us to understand that this knowledge holds one of the keys to our happiness.
