No matter how much money we have, it is never going to be enough.
There are many reasons why a person buys something in this material world.
Why do I want that? Why do I only buy discounted items? Why do I hate losing out? Why am I attached to designer items?
This full moon is a good opportunity to understand our relationship with material things.
Maybe we are unconscious, but we may carry our mother’s idea that thrift is a virtue, we may buy cheap stuff because deep down we do not feel worthy of expensive things, or we may stick to designer brands to show we are better than who we really are.
The relationship between ourselves and things is related to our relationship with money.
How much money in our bank account is “enough”? Isn’t the current account balance “enough”? If not, for what reason isn’t it “enough”?
Some people find happiness just having enough to eat and clean water to drink for the day. But in our material world, we tend to look more towards scarcity – “we don’t have this, we don’t have that”.
Because it is Christmas season, now is a good time to reflect on things and money. Maybe we are not spending enough on certain things, or maybe we are wasting our money on other things. It is important to circulate the money and first to start giving. It can be a donation, something that might really help ourselves or others, or something to help the economy.
